Bone materials of bovine and synthetic origin for bone augmentation: cerabone® from botiss and the synthetic maxresorb®, Osopia and Cerasorb, as granules and mouldable materials in several particle sizes and volumes.
Bone substitutes: bovine and synthetic
Here you will find granules and mouldable materials of bovine and synthetic origin in one place. Bovine mineral preserves volume for a long time, while synthetic calcium phosphates resorb in a controlled way.
Looking for human donor bone? See allografts.
- Bovine mineral with long-term volume stability
- Synthetic alternatives without biological origin
- Also available as sticky bone with hyaluronic acid

cerabone® +HyAbotiss biomaterialscerabone® with added hyaluronic acid. Once hydrated, the granules become sticky and mouldable, making them easy to place and contour. The hyaluronic acid degrades within the first weeks – the mineral preserves volume.
cerabone®botiss biomaterials100 % pure bovine bone mineral, manufactured at 1200 °C. The mineral is practically insoluble and therefore preserves volume and contour in the long term.
OsopiaSynthetic calcium phosphate – more than 90 % β-TCP and less than 10 % hydroxyapatite – in irregular granules of 250–1000 µm. Resorbs and is replaced by bone during natural remodelling.
CERASORB® FoamcurasanMouldable block of 85 % phase-pure β-TCP granules and 15 % porcine collagen. Hydrated with blood, it can be adapted to the defect, while the collagen holds the granules in place.
maxresorb®botiss biomaterialsSynthetic biphasic calcium phosphate (60 % hydroxyapatite, 40 % β-TCP). The β-TCP component remodels within 3–6 months, while the hydroxyapatite resorbs slowly and maintains volume.
CERASORB® McurasanPhase-pure β-tricalcium phosphate in polygonal granules that interlock and reduce micromovement in the defect.

Bovine bone mineral
cerabone® is bovine bone mineral from botiss. cerabone® +HyA contains hyaluronic acid and forms sticky bone when hydrated. All variants are listed under xenografts.
Synthetic materials
- maxresorb® from botiss: fully synthetic biphasic calcium phosphate with controlled resorption.
- Osopia from Summit Biologics: synthetic biphasic calcium phosphate with a high TCP content and slow resorption.
- Cerasorb Foam from Curasan: mouldable material of type 1 collagen and β-tricalcium phosphate granules.
Human donor bone is listed under allografts, and membranes to cover the material under membranes.
