Good to know about sutures

Biodegradable suture material
Absorbable suture material is used for sutures that dissolve in tissue, where indicated. The so-called half-life has become an established criterion for absorbable suture materials. Depending on the indication, we supply short-term, medium-term and long-term absorbable suture materials in many different thread sizes.
Absorbable suture?
The degradation rate of a suture is measured in strength vs. half-life, and a 5-day indication means that at least 50% of the tensile strength remains after 5 days. The actual time it takes for the suture to be completely dissolved is often much longer.
The time indications below are thus the half-life.
