Know your patient's vitamin D level before you treat
With botissCARE you measure vitamin D chairside from a drop of capillary blood. The result is ready after about 15 minutes, and the D3+K2 spray gives the clinic a concrete follow-up for the patient.
Vitamin D as part of the treatment plan
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and plays a role in bone metabolism and the immune system. These are the processes that need to work when an implant has to integrate, or when bone and soft tissue have to heal.
In the winter months, the skin produces little or no vitamin D in northern Europe. With botissCARE you can test, advise and follow up in one system, directly in the clinic.
Test, result and follow-up in the same visit
All in one
Test, reader and D3+K2 supplement from one system, so you can test, advise and follow up in the clinic.
15 minutes
The result is ready while the patient is still in the clinic. No referral and no waiting for the laboratory.
Peace of mind
When you know the patient's vitamin D status, you can take it into account when planning implants and bone augmentation.

Low vitamin D and early implant failure
Two retrospective studies from the same clinic followed a total of 3,365 implants. The share of patients with early implant failure rose as the vitamin D level fell:
The difference was not statistically significant, and the authors call for larger prospective studies. Still, the trend is a good reason to know the number before you plan surgery.

From finger prick to result in about 15 minutes
Prick the finger
Clean the finger and collect the blood with the UniSampler collector.
Mix with buffer
Transfer the blood to the collection tube with buffer solution and mix.
Three drops on the cassette
Apply exactly three drops to the Rapi-D test cassette.
Read
After 15 minutes, insert the cassette into the Cube Reader and read the result in ng/ml.
How to read the result
The Cube Reader shows total 25-OH vitamin D in ng/ml. botiss classifies the result like this:
Many laboratories report in nmol/l. The value in nmol/l is 2.5 times the value in ng/ml, so 30 ng/ml equals 75 nmol/l.
The test is a screening. If you find a deficiency, advise the patient to talk to their own doctor, especially before major surgery.
Tests and supplements from botissCARE

Supplement for the patient
botissCARE D3+K2 is a food supplement in spray form (10 ml). The clinic can hand it out to patients with a low vitamin D level and test again after a period to see whether the level has risen.
Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet. Follow the dosage on the pack.
What clinics ask
Why test vitamin D in the dental clinic?
Vitamin D plays a role in bone metabolism and the immune system, and the result can be part of planning before implants, bone augmentation and periodontal treatment. The test takes about 15 minutes and can be done during the appointment.
When does it make sense to test?
Typically when planning implant surgery or bone augmentation, in patients with periodontitis, and again after a period of supplementation to see whether the level has risen.
How accurate is the test?
botiss states a correlation of 98% with LC-MS/MS, the laboratory gold standard. The test is a screening, and an abnormal result can be confirmed by the patient's doctor.
What is the difference between ng/ml and nmol/l?
They are two units for the same thing. The Cube Reader reports in ng/ml, while many laboratories report in nmol/l. Multiply the value in ng/ml by 2.5 to get nmol/l.
What is in the starter kit?
1 Cube Reader, 50 Rapi-D tests (2 × 25), 200 lancets, 2 product leaflets and a quick guide. Each Rapi-D pack contains 25 tests, collection tubes with buffer, blood collectors and an RFID card that calibrates the reader to the test batch.
Other vitamin D tests
We also carry Qassay, which measures vitamin D, HbA1c and CRP on the same reader.
