Thanks to the geometry of the FIRST's working end, it is possible to achieve the correct direction from the first impulse without the use of rotating instruments, without removal of bone tissue, and without the need for irrigation to avoid overheating.

Arbejdsprincip: Magnetic Mallet-håndstykket afgiver 50-mikrosekunders impulser til lancetspidsen. De 4 skarpe facetter griber fat i kortikalis uden at glide; knoglen udvides og komprimeres lateralt i stedet for at blive fjernet ved rotation. Der er ikke behov for rutinemæssig skylning under præparationsfasen.
