Smartscrews are self-tapping titanium fixation screws from IBI (Industrie Biomediche Insubri SA, Switzerland), developed for fixing titanium mesh and resorbable/non-resorbable membranes in guided bone regeneration (GBR). The longer 15 mm version is suited to larger or deeper bone defects, where the membrane or mesh must be held firmly in place throughout the entire augmentation process.
