Epi-Guide is a synthetic, resorbable barrier membrane made of polylactic acid (PLA), developed for guided tissue and bone regeneration (GTR/GBR) in periodontal and oral surgery. The membrane has a patented three-layer structure with varying pore sizes, designed to attract and stabilise fibroblasts and epithelial cells while maintaining space around the defect for bone and periodontal tissue formation.
As the membrane is fully synthetic, the risks associated with animal or human tissue products are avoided. Epi-Guide retains its structure for up to approx. 20 weeks after implantation, after which it degrades completely into CO₂ and water over 6-12 months – a second operation for removal is therefore not necessary.
