The periodontal treatment journey
Where does Lumoral fit in?

Antibacterial biofilm therapy before instrumentation
ABT is an antibacterial light treatment performed with Lumoral before the rest of the treatment to break down biofilm.
How ABT works in the clinic
1. Plan
Add about 12 minutes to the appointment.
2. Treat
The patient rinses with Lumorinse, then the Lumoral mouthpiece is placed.
3. Continue the treatment
The clinical treatment begins after ABT.
Why ABT before periodontal treatment?
- Reduces the oral bacterial load before instrumentation
- Destabilizes the biofilm
- Supports mechanical removal of plaque and deposits
- Can be used before bleeding and invasive treatment
The home protocol
What should I recommend to my patient?
- Gingivitis (Lumorinse 100): once daily for 3 months
- Periodontitis (Lumorinse 100): twice daily for 1 month → once daily for 2 months
- Peri-implantitis (Lumorinse 130): twice daily for 1 month → once daily for 2 months
- Maintenance: twice weekly
After the treatment course, Lumoral is recommended twice a week as preventive maintenance.

Patients who may benefit most from extra biofilm control
- With persistent bleeding
- With a high biofilm load
- With active inflammation
- When mechanical plaque control is difficult
- In the periods between clinical treatments
- As an adjunct in the maintenance phase
