mucoderm® from botiss is an acellular collagen matrix of porcine dermis for soft tissue augmentation, and an alternative to autologous soft tissue grafts.

Soft tissue augmentation with mucoderm®

mucoderm® is a three-dimensional collagen matrix of porcine dermis, cleaned of cells and non-collagenous proteins. It is used as an alternative to autologous soft tissue grafts, sparing the patient a donor site in the palate.

The matrix revascularises quickly and remodels into the patient’s own tissue within approx. 6–9 months. It is used to thicken the soft tissue around implants, treat recessions, widen the attached gingiva and close extraction sockets.

  • No donor site in the palate
  • Rapid revascularisation
  • Remodels into the patient’s own tissue within approx. 6–9 months
  • Three sizes and a Ø 10 mm punch

Sizes

mucoderm® is available in 15 × 20, 20 × 30 and 30 × 40 mm and as a round Ø10 mm punch. The matrix is made from porcine dermis, which is purified in several steps so that a collagen matrix remains.

Instruments for the tunnel technique can be found under microsurgery. See also membranes and all biomaterials.

Beyond the Palate: Achieving Predictable Soft Tissue Volume Without a Second Surgical Site

Dr. Giorgio Tabanella (Italy)

Dr. Giorgio Tabanella covers how to gain soft-tissue volume around teeth and implants without harvesting connective tissue from the palate. He explains why tissue thickness and keratinised tissue matter for long-term results and uses mucoderm® instead of a connective tissue graft.
